"Reverse" Motivation Psychology

Volleyball!!! One of my most loved games. When I entered BE college in 2012, I came across this wonderful game, and I instantly fell in love with this game. The natural ability in me to handle volleys and smashes better than many others encouraged me a lot to learn the tactics and basic fundamentals of this game. Luckily, one of my friends, Ronit Lakra was extremely good in this sport, having played it at high-level competitions. He had an amazing ability to control his jump, smoothen the drops, smash hard in the first court, and many more. Through daily constant practice for almost a year and valuable coaching lessons from Ronit and few other good players, I became a significantly good smasher, by the third semester of my college. I used to love this game. We used to play for hours and hours, non-stop, and this game won't tire us. I liked playing other games as well, like Basketball, Football, etc. but however being a spectacled guy, volleyball was a game, which made me feel saf...

Not Alone!

14th Aug 2021 As stated yesterday, I was suffering from anxiety, mental trauma, anger, frustration, and an immense amount of stress for the past few weeks, because of several obstacles in my Ph.D. pursual. Be it the thesis research topic, objectives and research gap, be it departmental and college politics, be it resource deficits and people's attitude, be it lack of significant inputs from the desired people, collaboration possibilities or efforts, be it careless irritating corrupt attitude of institutional employees, who have taken their job for granted and are misusing their position for executing even the smallest of tasks, everything seemed extremely triggering and frustrating for me.  Pursuing a Doctorate degree, especially from India, and that too in Mechanical Engineering with Manufacturing specialization, and with the kind of people involved, seemed to be the worst decision of my life. It involves and requires the ability to deal with extremely high amounts of frustr...

One great morning thought

Image
14th Aug 2021 I was simply scrolling through youtube, where I landed upon one of Swami Vivekananda's video links by the channel Hindu Monk.  He says, "Such a man becomes a world mover, for whom, his little self is dead and God stands in its place. The whole universe will become transfigured to him."  And when I tried understanding the depth of this quote, I felt like it is so deep and true in its meaning and conveyance. So so true! If we all simply feel the presence of God within us, be it Shri Krishna, Lord Hanuman, Lord Shiva, Goddess Durga, be it, anyone, with respect to any religion, it will simply solve many problems of this world related to humanity.  If we simply feel that there is God who is operating our senses within us, we won't commit many mistakes and indulge in wrong actions which we normally do. It in itself will be the true transcendental bliss state. Such a wonderful thought! Isn't it?  Simply whenever a bad thought crosses our mind, we can treat ...

A new start - Augustus

13th Aug 2021 A few hours ago, I was sulking in my despair and regret of making wrong decisions, choosing the wrong people in life, and having a dumb brain. I was extremely low on self-esteem, belief, and confidence. The past two weeks have been pretty frustrating from my researcher's point of view. No progress in research work, COVID-19 impact, experimental constraints, lethargic careless attitude of Indian government employees, mental breakdown, confusions regarding the procedure of research, topic conflicts, and many other issues were barging in. The frustrations reached at such a level, that my past inner demons surfaced up leading to anxiety, suicidal thoughts, anger, etc. All those emotional breakdown issues unraveled, which I have been battling since eternity. A doctoral degree is seriously the toughest to fetch and survive in this country. Especially if it is going to be in Mechanical Engineering, keeping the current market trend and job prospects in mind.  Millions o...
